"Tell the people of Israel, 'In the seventh month (Elul), the first of the month is to be for
you a day of complete rest for remembering, a holy convocation announced with the blast
of the Shofar!" (Leviticus 23:24). All you inhabitants of the world, you who live on the earth; when a banner is hoisted on the mountains look! When the Shofar is blown, listen! (Isaiah 18:3)

“The tenth day of the seventh month is Yom Kippur” You are to have a holy convocation; you are to deny yourselves, making atonement for you before Adonai your God. Anyone who does not deny himself will be cut off from his people, and anyone that does any kind of work, I will destroy from among his people, this is a permanent regulation, through all your generations It is a Shabbat of complete rest, resting on YOUR Shabbat from the evening of the Ninth of Tishre (September 24 th this year) till the following evening (Vayikra (Leviticus) chapter 16 & 23:26-32)

At this time every year, much of the world embarks on a roller coaster of holiday joy. Or confusion? especially in America “the reason for the season” is all but plain. Today we live in culture of instant satisfaction, where joy and blessing is measured by the ticket price of a “gift” or the sheer quantity of “stuff” that we can fit under a tree or a menorah.

Isaiah 62:10 is the Messianic mandate: “Go through, go through the gates: prepare the way for the people: cast up, cast up a highway: gather out the stones: lift up a standard for the people.” Verse 12 is the fulfillment of God’s promise: “And they shall call them The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord: and thou shall be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.”) God is using Messianic Judaism to fulfill these verses.

Messianic Judaism is a people movement, a movement of Jews and Gentiles who follow Yeshua, the Messiah. It is a movement that strives to embrace Jewish life, and God’s given heritage and culture, viewed through the revelation of Yeshua’s life, death and resurrection embracing the Hebrew Testament and the Brit Chadashah (New Testament), believing that the bible (all of it) is the word of God. This is a movement centered on biblical truth, recognizing the unique calling on Jewish people to follow the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

Dan called up everyone under 35—there needs to more of these than everyone else. That’s how it is in Israel, former Soviet Union, South America, when Messianic movement got under way in 70’s, most of leaders were under 30. The movement in America is aging… and weakening. Next year, be encouraged to bring more of your young potential leaders.

Tikkun Ministries International is a covenental network of congregations, including our congregation, Beit Simcha. My wife (Pamela) and I attended the pre-advance (retreat) for senior leaders. Much of this retreat was devoted to prayers, laying hands on each person. There was also some good discussion and teaching about the vision of Tikkun. These are my notes.
