Oh, How I Love Your Word!- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Messiah conference, 2006
The Psalmist exudes, “How I love your Torah! I meditate on it all day.” Psalm 119:97. How about you? Do you love the Torah as a treasure of your heart? Last week I taught you a bit about how I study the Bible—the wonderful, precious Word of God. Today I will review five basic principles that I shared with you, with different examples.

Messianic Discipleship 101: Growing in the Spirit- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, February 10, 2007
Two weeks ago, I began reviewing Messianic Rabbi David Levine’s class on making talmidim. Messianic Discipleship 101 introduces five fundamentals steps of Messianic discipleship. These are the foundation of spiritual discipleship, upon which we will build life in the Spirit. Isaiah 28:16 says [sing], “I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation. He who believeth, shall not make haste.”

Abba Father- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, September 9, 2006
Before we were born, Abba was our Father. When we are born again, Abba became our Father again. Abba will help us and our children, both physical and spiritual, come to maturity. But whereas children grow to physical maturity with time, time does not produce spiritual maturi To attain spiritual maturity, we need the milk of God’s love, then the training of spiritual discipline.

Kol Katan v’Kol Kala- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, September 2, 2006
HaShem wants our relationship with Him to be like a good marriage—the two becoming echad, faithful and secure, and full of romance, mutual pleasure and love—and He wants our marriages to be like our relationship with Him.

L’dor v’dor- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, August 26, 2006
Our sense of God’s purposes and destiny for us and for our children take root and bloom as we become aware of God’s workings in covenant down through the ages. The Jewish people are intimately connected with the generations past and yet to be. That is because God wants us to remember him, l’dor v’dor, from generation to generation.

More than Conquerors- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, July 14, 2006
“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” –Romans 8:37 This is a good verse to keep in mind these days, isn’t it? As Israel fights again for her survival on fronts to the north and south, she must stand and fight. As our congregation deals with a crisis, we must stand firm, remembering that HaShem is our victory. The battle belongs to the Lord! As you face your own personal struggles, you must stand in Messiah, so that heaven and earth will see that you are more than conqueror through him who loved us. V’eemru?

The Dove at the Door: The Ruach HaKodesh from Beresheet to Acts- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, May 20, 2006
Earlier this spring, a dove appeared at our door, building a nest on a ladder right outside our kitchen. My first reaction was: Bird, this is no place to build a nest! I shook the ladder and the nest fell to the ground. A week or so later, I noticed the dove was back, with a fresh, new nest. I looked at it for a moment and thought: this bird has come with a purpose. So I decided to let it stay. At the time I had the illusion that it was up to me…. A week or two later, I mentioned the bird to Pamela, and she pointed out that it was a dove. And then, only then, after passing by that dove dozens of times on our way out that door, did it occur to me: the dove at the door is a sign!

Daniel Juster, Jewish and Gentile Distinction in Messianic Congregations. See Dan’s paper—he distributed copies at the Institut We’re talking about identity issues, especially in relationship between Jew and Gentile in Messianic congregation and how we are to have uni. In churches, this is less of an issue because Jews assimilate; we’re all “Messiahians” n In Messianic congregations, Jews are called to live as Jes. This was an issue that was raising in the 70’s: how should Jews and Gentiles be relating.

Restoring David’s Fallen Sukkah- Rabbi Glenn Blank
October 22, 2005
Turn to Amos 9:11. “When that day comes, I will raise up the fallen sukkah of David.” This prophecy is deep and mysterious, with many levels of meaning. At its core, it foretells the restoration of David’s royal line, the house of David. It also speaks of the restoration of David’s people, Yehudah and all Israel. It also looks forward to the restoration of all humanity, from the nations of the world. Last but not least, it also longs for the restoration of the heart of David himself, for intimate worship in the presence of Hashem.

The Wisdom of Authority- Rabbi Glenn Blank
February 4, 2006
Authority is God’s power to rule and to judge, which he delegates in order to accomplish his plans and purposes. This morning we will explore how authority is supposed to work, to accomplish God’s plans and purposes, in our relationship with God himself, in families, and in the congregation. Sound good? It is good. When we use and respect authority well, the kingdom of God advances, setting people free. On the other hand, if we abuse or disrespect authority, the kingdom of darkness advances, putting people into bondage.

Messiah 2005--notes on selected teachings with audios- Rabbi Glenn Blank
July 5, 2005
We are called now in the end times to be vigilant as watchmen. We don’t forever to repent, we don’t have forever to respond to the holy calling to preach the gospel. We do not have forever, it is time to be vigilant, it is time to lift up our voices, and not be held back by fear or compromise. It is time to wake up and proclaim the message, to take up the ancient mantle. The time is short, it is time to draw near to the Lord as never before, to proclaim the message to the Jew first and also the gentile, to be all our sold out for Him. I have set you as watchmen on the walls. Go through, go through the gates. Remove the stones. Make his path straight. For our light has come, and the glory of the Lord will shine upon us.

Boundaries then and now: Whatever happened to Jewish believers since Acts?- Rabbi Glenn Blank
July 5, 2005
A historian once observed: “History repeats itself. Historians repeat each other.”
My aim today is not merely to repeat history, but to learn from it. How about you?
The history of what happened to Jewish believers since the first century can teach us much about the boundaries
that distinguish Messianic Judaism from other Judaisms and Christianities.
The boundaries that distinguish us define our unique identity and calling.
A danger is that boundaries can also become barriers that can marginalize us, putting us outside the boundaries.
So are you ready to learn from history?

I Will Praise the L-RD - Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, April 2, 2005
Today's sermon is called "I will Praise the L-RD" and that is what I purpose to do, Baruch Hashem! It was inspired by a little conversation I had with my friend and colleague Bill Pottenger and also by a web page also called "I will Praise the Lord!" by a Jewish lady named "Miriam". Praise is a right and good way to begin any prayer of faith. Praise builds trust & faith by reminding us of HaShem's love and His power to answer prayer. What should you do when you receive blessings? Praise G-d! Give him the glory! What should you do when you receive tsuris and troubles? Praise G-d! Trust in Him at all times!

What do you do with someone who has lost her mother?- Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat, January 1, 2005
This question cannot be adequately answered, because it is much more than a question. Who can answer the waves of memories and sorrows and hopes? Nevertheless, because I love you, Pamela, and I know that G-d loves you, I will try. My answer has three parts, looking at past, present and future, from the perspective of the Eternal: We remember with you, we mourn with you, and we rejoice with you.

The Burden of Hashem - Rabbi Glenn Blank
Northeast MJAA Regional, November 7, 2004
Many of us bear burdens—burdens that weigh upon body, soul and spirit. The burdens of body, soul and spirit are different, but Hashem sees all things thru the Spirit. There are moments when we feel the burdens that weigh upon our bodies and our souls keenly. Hashem knows how we feel. He has been there, with us. He has taken upon himself all the pain of the world, all the sin of the world.

Emunah: Faith and faithfulness in the Tanakh - Rabbi Glenn Blank
Messiah conference, 2004
Emunah, faith or faithfulness, is about holding steady, holding firm, holding true to what is true: the faithfulness of God. There’s a common misconception about faith: it’s an idea or proposition to which you give assent. This is a half-truth. Faith is more than a proposition. It is a commitment to a promise: like the patriarchs and the prophets before us, we will live according to God’s commandments, trusting in God’s promises. In other words, biblical faith is faithfulness.

Good News for Jews, and for you, too! - Rabbi Glenn Blank
Lehigh Christian Community Church - May 2, 2004
Today I want to present the gospel to you—the good news. Not just any good news, but the good news that Paul received by revelation from Messiah Yeshua. This good news is powerful! Amen? It’s dunamis power—like dynamite, able to destroy the kingdom of darkness and the chains that keep people enslaved to sin. It is the power of salvation, to the Jew first and also the Gentile.

Jacob: Deceiver, Tzaddik or Saint? - Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat - December 12, 2003
Who is Jacob, Yaakov? Christian commentators major on Jacob as deceiver, Jewish commentators make him out to be an otherworldly tzaddik. For me, he is a human being, a wonderful picture of what it means to be human, full of fears and desires, struggling with G-d and with men, and overcoming.

Vision for a community welcoming Jews and Gentiles - Rabbi Glenn Blank
Shabbat - May 8, 2004
We need vision from Hashem to help provide direction and guidance. Our current vision statement is Jews and Gentiles, worshipping one God, learning, and loving one another. I propose making it a bit longer, but I hope a bit clearer about who we are. We are a community welcoming Jews and Gentiles, rejoicing, worshipping the God of Israel, learning, and loving one another.
